Rhode Island 401 Gives Day is Today!
April 1, 2024
PFLAG Providence Needs YOUR Help
Dear Friends,
The world is becoming a more dangerous place, especially for those in the LGBTQIA+ community. From the Statehouse to the schoolhouse, bullying and hatred are on the rise. The ACLU has tracked over 400 anti-LGBTQIA+ bills across all 50 American states. Even here in Rhode Island, state lawmakers are advancing bills that would forcibly out and punish gay and trans kids at school—putting the power of the government behind bullying and harassment. But when hatred rises, love rises to meet it. PFLAG is doing what we can to stop the tide of hatred, and we look to you on April 1st for aid.
Through PFLAG of Greater Providence, YOU can take a stand against bullies. YOU can stand up for human rights. And YOU can ensure that all of us can live happy and dignified lives.
PFLAG of Greater Providence provides support, education, and advocacy for LGBTQIA+ people, their families, and allies across Rhode Island. We hold monthly support meetings both online and in person for all to attend, distribute educational materials at events, and speak on behalf of LGBTQIA+ people and their families.
At PFLAG, we are parents.
We are grandparents and siblings.
We are LGBTQIA+.
We are friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, coworkers, and allies.
We are an all-volunteer organization, and we are participating in Rhode Island’s Day of Giving—401 Gives for the second year in a row. On April 1st beginning at 6 a.m. through 6 p.m. on April 2nd, we are asking for your gifts and your support—which will ensure that we can continue to show up at every Pride event this summer and hold our support group meetings free of charge for anyone in crisis looking for help.
By giving to PFLAG, you are putting educational booklets into the hands of parents wondering how they can support their kids. You are connecting an overwhelmed parent of a newly out kid to a network of support and care. And you are sending a message to LGBTQIA+ people everywhere that they matter, that they are valued, that they are loved, and that their bullies are not welcome.
Please join us in standing up for what is right by making a gift this weekend at www.401gives.org/organizations/pflag-greater-providence or by going to 401Gives.org and entering PFLAG in the search bar at the top of the page.
In Gratitude and With Love,
The Board of PFLAG Greater Providence.
